Mayor Lee shows his support for Bay Lights Project

A couple of months ago we reported on the Bay Lights Project, the world’s largest light installation by Disorient artist Leo Villareal. It is being planned to coincide with a number of big celebrations coming up in San Francisco, including the America’s Cup, the 75th anniversary of the Bay Bridge, and the opening of the new Bay Bridge.

Since then, the project has made great progress. They have raised more than $5 million, from an overall goal of $8 million. They have less than 60 days left to raise the remainder, or the project will be a no-go.

One of the ways they have come up with to get the funds is a Tech Challenge. Hi-tech companies are encouraged to team up to raise funds, with sponsorship opportunities available for anyone who can raise $50,000 or more.
