World’s Biggest Guest List – a call for transparency

The latest decision to take the 10,000 tickets that were supposed to be available on a “FCFS” (First Come, First Serve) basis to the general public, and instead give them to hand-picked Theme Camps, volunteers, and art projects, has reduced the number of ways available to the rest of us to get tickets.

One of the 9 ways you can still get a ticket to Burning Man has been struck out.

 This restricts supply, and also increases the exclusivity of the event – further increasing demand. Economics 101 says that less supply, equals higher price; more demand, equals higher price; both factors together, equals much higher price.

It also makes BMorg the Door Bitch with the world’s biggest guest list at the world’s best party. They get to choose which camps are in and which camps are out. This is likely to be good for those with political connections to the BMorg, and quite possibly a challenge for DJ Sound camps and loud art cars.

Burner Andrew has come up with a great suggestion. Let’s make this Ultimate Guest List of 10,000 tickets open and transparent. Let the whole community see who gets the favor of the BMorg, and who gets no love.
