Thank you to everyone sending messages of support.
Twitter suspended my account @steveouttrim out of the blue, citing “spam and platform manipulation” – neither of which is true. It appears I got caught up in the mass purge of Trump-supporting accounts.
I contacted their support team to appeal, but I don’t hold out much hope as the true motivation behind this seems political rather than their stated reason.
You can still find me there on the account for this blog, @burnersdotme. At least for now…the de-platformers have had me in their sights for a long time, no doubt they will be trying to take that account out soon also.
Twitter was careful to wait until the stockmarket closed before implementing their sweeping censorship. Even so, with a nearly 4% drop in after hours trading this has cost them about $1.6 billion. It is hard to see future upside in the stock if they are deliberately alienating half their user base.
The biggest target of the purge was obviously Donald Trump (89 million followers), who is still President of the United States. He was simultaneously de-platformed on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitch, TikTok, Discord, Shopify, Spotify, Pinterest.
CampaignMonitor, the mailing list provider for his campaign suspended him. Online stores selling Trump-related merchandise were also taken out. The President’s official Twitter account @POTUS is still there but recent messages from Trump were arbitrarily deleted.
Trump’s YouTube channel (2.7m) is still there. Steve Bannon’s War Room YouTube channel (330k subs) was also removed.
Some of the other accounts taken out were much larger than mine (9200 followers):
General Michael Flynn (1.2m)
Michael Flynn Jr
Sidney Powell (1.2m)
Lin Wood (1.1m)
Tracy Beanz (533k)
Major Patriot (311k)
Praying Medic (476k)
Ron Watkins (CodeMonkey)
Jim Watkins (RQueenInc, IsItWetYet)
We The Inevitable
Amazing Polly (99freemind)
3 Days 3 Nights
Vincent Kennedy (319k)
Pepe News Now (69k)
Breaking911 Techno Fog
Zach Haller (Shirtless Pundit)
ANCReport (Ryan Dawson)
Sir William Scot5
Rush Limbaugh’s account is gone, but a Twitter spokesperson said his account was deactivated by the user, not by them.
Many accounts that remained reported losing large numbers of followers.
Some accounts strangely managed to survive the purge:
