Please comment on this post if you know your camp’s location, and tell us a bit about what type of shenanigans will be going down there. You can even send photos and links to Kickstarter/Indiegogo projects, Facebook pages etc. – unlike some others, we encourage all this stuff and want to help. We will do our best to update this page as info trickles in, so please bookmark it and keep checking. Thanks to Burners Erik and dcoyle for suggesting this, we did it last year and I guess some found it useful. We also endorse BurnerMap as a great way to find out where your Facebook Burner friends will be, you can print it out if you’re not into smartphones on the Playa. More than 1000 camps applied for placement this year, a new record.

There is no Root Society and no Opulent Temple this year.  2 major “big sound” camps lost. According to trilobyte, BMOrg defines “big sound” as above 300 watts:

“Big sound” can be a confusing term, since we each have our own ideas of what constitutes big. From the city planning standpoint, it’s a measure of wattage. 300 watts is the general rule for the whole of the city. To me that seems painfully low, but for the most part I think the idea is car or home stereo class. More powerful systems need to be around the edges of the city, either along Esplanade or (for the bigger systems) between 2-3 and 9-10.

This includes the following camps: And then there’s only love, (it doesn’t get more interactive than this camp) Espresso Camp, (bringing espresso to the masses each morning) Saints & Sinners (they joined us from Silicon Village and have the same sex positive attitude as ATTOL) Hookah Lounge (bringing hookah and food to the Playa each and every day) Exposure Vault, (they will be arriving very early and perform time lapse photography for the Event. This is sanctioned by the ORG) Particle Camp (this is a new and very unusual camp. They will be handing out equipment to capture and define what is in the air we breathe out there. This will be done on a real time basis.) East Bay CORE Camp. (This group is building the EB CORE project)  Dan & Lindsays’ Wedding Camp, (Dan Das Mann will be getting married on the Playa and he will be building and burning a beautiful wedding chapel for anyone to use and enjoy)  Brain Freeze / Got Stickers Camp. (Again this year we will be handing out the most popular stickers and we will attempt to beat our record of last year of giving out 175 gallons of frozen margaritas. The Long Lost Now Found BRC Ski Lodge will be a place for the weary to re-energize, and for the energized to celebrate the moment. Next to the Lodge entrance, you can drop off your unwanted emotional baggage at Jerry’s Complaint Desk – and we’ll in turn take it to the temple where it will be burned Saturday night. Inside the Lodge, we’ll have a variety of games to play, and ski shots to share with fellow travelers.

6:00 & H – Skyler’s Esplenade. We are a memorial camp dedicated to loving memory of Skyler Switzer, who died in February. We are family and friends. We have art cars, ambient fire art, and lemonade on days when life gives lemons.

6:15 & D The Gods’ Vending Inc : Our Cargo Cult style vending machine (a functioning machine built from wood and bamboo) Is the main focus of the camp. It will be vending objects of desire to all who choose to chant a short prayer to the Gods. As Cargo Cult was a big thing on South Sea Islands we also have a shade shelter where Burners can get out of the sun and strum a ukulele just for fun. If the “OUT OF ORDER” sign is posted don’t worry, it just means we are out having fun on the Playa. The vending machine will be in operation every afternoon until The Gods’ run out of cool stuff for the day

7:00 & Esplanade – Tectonic will be at Esplanade and 7:00! Our structure will be a giant red, orange, yellow, and purple volcano. We will also have a chill dome off to the side if you need to get away, but don’t want to leave the city. We will have a bar, live music from our house band The Shrike, DJs, Gluten Free and Vegan pizza slices to give away, aerial performances, and we will be sacrificing virgin burners to the fire gods!

7:45 & I Camp Pot Luck – We feed and water stray passers-by, and host a pot-luck dinner Friday night at Sunset where you can eat our food or bring some to give to someone else.

8:00 & Esplanade: DUSTFISH :big show is Thursday night. Sexbombe cabaret! A mega-huge burlesque show. All week we will feature a huge variety of live music with a few very special djs in the mix as well. DUSTFISH is no slouch when it comes to bringing it on the Playa. Stop by for a drink and enjoy the show.

8:00 & A – Lost Lounge/Temple Crew camp

8:00 & B Orphan/Endorphin Camp is looking for placement around 8:00 and E street. Come on by and hang out in the Asylum pub and sample some fine homebrewed ales and ciders. We are also hosting Daddy Warbuck’s Cigar Lounge, Captain Ron’s Fishing Shack & Hoist, Baron Oink’s Latex Vac & Pac, Punjab’s Infused Vodka Luge, and the Orphan Radio Station (105.9 on the playa). Special additions to all that are in the works too!

8:00 & E – Hailing from the desert wastes of New Mexico is Camp Red or Green! We will be at 8:00 and Extraterrestrial serving red or green chile tamales at random times throughout the week! We will be roasting fresh New Mexican green chiles, providing the Heat for your Burn in the way of salsas, hot sauces and other assorted hot things! Stop by our Tamales, Tequila and Tutus Fiesta on Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm for red or green margaritas, tequila shots and the best tamales the playa has ever seen. Camp Red or Green will also be hosting The Museum of Cultural Appropriation and Dead Things. Come gander at our unique selection of unfortunate creatures, freaks and cultural cargo!

8:30 & Esplanade – The Automatic Subconscious will be returning to this side of the City after a few years of exploring the Berlin side.
We’ll be anchoring the Boston Hive at 8:30 and Esplanade!

8:30 & Esplanade – Eridu Society I’ll go first, the Eridu Society will be back and is aiming for the area of 8:30 and Esplanade. Last year we built the Fertile Minds Idea Deli and had a lot of fun serving up good ideas, bad ideas, crazy ideas, rubber stamps, and the occasional deli pickle or cold drink.

This year we’re building a mighty ziggurat and altar to honor the Annunaki, who came down from the heavens and bestowed ancient Sumerians with the gifts of written language, counting, civilization, and the brewing of beer (among many other things). We’ll also display some of the curiosities and artifacts that we’ve collected in our travels through time, space, and several of the better dimensions…Stop by, say hello, see the remarkable things, enjoy the rubber stamp bar and other tributes!

We will have delicious Fair Trade coffee from Extracto in Portland, OR and Burn After Reading Magazine Issue No. 2! Actually, come visit us anytime! We will have a heated Wolf Dome at night, Tigre Bailando’s effigy “Lobo Madre”, propane burn barrels, yoga classes every morning at 9am and amazing pack energy and howls all of the time!

9:15 & F Camp Rack em Up. This is our first year as a Theme camp and we are super excited  We are setting up a mini pool hall, with 3 tables and a couple couches with a small bar. We are hoping to see all of you lovely Burners there!!! Stop by on Tues, Wed, or Thurs from 2:00pm-4:00pm for topless tournaments and knock some balls around. (Nifty gifts for the top 3 players on all 3 days). We also have yummy coffee or tea for those who want a nice drink without alcohol.

9:15 & G Pickle Back Mountain. Come enjoy a Pickle Back at our Cowboy themed Pickle Bar. And for the more daring, ride the large manual “mechanical” pickle! 

9:15 & G Seattle Rogue Regional Effigy (SeaCORE) camp ‘Cult Of POSIWID’ is part of the ‘Rogue Nation Village’, also including ‘Dazed & Confused’ (for projects ‘Puha Pool’ & Spines’), ‘Kreme Burners’, and ‘Come Again’.

9:15 & I JaXXXson JunXXXion will be back for our 2nd time  We’ll be at Interstellar & 9:15 yay!

9:30 & J-K UnHoly Grail camp will be at roughly 9:30 and J or K…we will have a fun set up with mugs/bottles for you to create your own 2013 momento…spray paint a BM 2013 stencil (design in progress) on a “playa” mug/bottle that we provide you or spray the image onto your own cup/mug …we will also have a larger version for you to spray onto your shirt or jacket…one of my favorite shirts that I own is a t-shirt that I brought to 2008 burn and in the center cafe someone was silk screening images of the man onto whatever shirt you were wearing…it always brings a smile to my face when I wear that shirt and I figured I could do a mini version of that for our “neighbors” this year. Plenty of shade…should have some couches and chairs…cooler full of cold beer…margarita on request…stop by, say Hi and create something simple that will bring you smiles for years to come
