Burning Man will be at the Electric Daisy Carnival, Las Vegas

The Washington Post recently reported on the link between Burning Man, Las Vegas, and Urban Renewal.

Well, it looks like those links are only going to get stronger, with Burning Man being one of the keynotes at the EDMBiz conference, part of the Electric Daisy Carnival. EDC was held in Vegas last year and had record attendance, 240,000 people over 3 days. You can listen to sets from all 3 days here.

Mixmag reports:

The recently announced EDMBiz conference at the Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas has confirmed top executives from global club franchises, world-renowned festivals, record labels and music destinations to round out their inaugural roster.

Initial panelists and speakers include Matt Adell, CEO of Beatport, Eddie Dean, president of Pacha, Marian Goodell, co-owner and producer of Burning Man, Paul Morris, founder and CEO of AM Only, plus artists Kaskade and Steve Angello [Swedish House Mafia] among many others.

The conference will be held June 5-7, as part of EDC week, at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Early bird registration is priced at $399 and is now available at www.edmbiz.com. Registration will provide access to conference programming as well as complimentary entrance to parties at Las Vegas’ finest nightclub venues each evening

Mixmag started in 1983 and Paul Oakenfold took twenty years to go from the beaches of Goa and Ibiza, to causing a stir on the streets of Los Angeles when he won a Grammy in 2004 (I hear he just rocked the opening party of Rehab in Vegas). It seems that, for whatever reason (dubstep music videos?) dance music has finally hit the US in a big way. And what does America do with dance music? Have conferences about it and launch startups and IPOs. No  doubt there will be all kinds of how-to books and Hollywood movies and Reality TV shows coming out soon. An all-American Human Traffic, anyone? Or maybe they already tried that, with the Boys and Girls Guide to Getting Down (both movies are absolute classic raver movies).

 More from Mixmag:

Uniting industry leaders and pioneers, the conference will focus on moving EDM forward on a credible and prosperous path. EDMbiz will focus on topics and issues specific to the scene including: best practices, social media, technology platforms, festivals, direct-to-fan relationships, licensing, branding, sponsorships, and sustaining community, humanity and credibility during a period of massive growth.

Jason Bentley will serve as the conference host, and panelists and keynote speakers will include world renowned electronic artists as well as top executives from AM Only, Atlantic Records, Atom Factory/Atom Empire, Burning Man, Citizen Net, Glassnote Records, Insomniac, Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub, Mobile Roadie, Pacha, Red Light Management, Strategic Group, TAO, Topspin Media, Turntable.fm, Twitter, William Morris Endeavor and The Windish Agency, among many more.

And talk about an after-party! This year’s EDC lineup should provide a cracker of a concert, with almost every superstar in dance music playing at some point.

  1. Rodney, one wonders at what miserable services you must be associated with where you would find a 4 year old post to make a comment. Do you know Eva? Maybe you use the same crappy search software?
