Wear your best pinks. New York based graphic artist Peter Ruprecht and some multi-award winning Toronto video producers are gifting his art on the Playa. Join the Facebook event if you’re interested in participating.
Enough people have been asking me to shoot them on the playa that i have decided once again to do a fully studio lit photoshoot on the playa for anyone one to come get shot as a playa gift. Sign up here so i kind of get any idea how many to accommodate …or just show up on playa….either way come get photographed. Just come in white. It will be at Dragonfly Den on 10 and C Thursday at sunset just before their Pink Party.

A gift is a gift. Amateur or pro, it is a gift. What is the point of critiquing a gift. It’s a frigging gift.
No, it’s a promotion for the studio, and hopefully they got laid for all that skin fluff.
To use your logic, you can call anything a gift, and make it immune to critique. Here: work with this – all my comments are a gift, which they are. “What is the point of critiquing a gift. It’s a frigging gift.”
Oh, and when I piss on your leg, that’s a gift, too. Some surely might enjoy it, like people with urolagnia. By your rules, you have no right, from your view point, to critique my gift.
But by my rules, if you piss on my leg and call it a gift, I will give you my critique regardless of what you call it.
I wonder when it was the exact moment that BM style went from not much thought to straight up lame…lol
Not thrilled with the lighting – very uneven and at the same time flat. Easy if not amateur technique. Maybe that’s his style.
I would have used a slave strobe for some backlight, as well as balanced the illumination level or photoshopped the pix, or shot in the day. Quality of the poses is overshadowed, so to speak, by the dull lighting. Unless you are in the pix, not much to get excited about.
^^Comment was on the Peter Ruprecht stills on FB.
As for the videos, I won’t do my whole cinéma vérité diatribe again. Suffice to say, Burning Man is not a music video. The montage/edited video is the verbiage of the default world. Not only does it not represent the experience, but it commodifies it like putting it in a McDonalds sandwich box. No matter what is inside, it is a vernacular of predictability.
Burning Man does not arrive in a rectangular box delivered by UPS. It is a surprise, found in your briefcase, your refrigerator, hiding in the back seat of your car, or whispered by a friend.
What you see here anyone could do. Lose the artificial music track and the montage editing and start showing us some truth.
Well, havent you seen the new drive through window at last BM? 😉
I think I just did. Everything on the menu seems the same. Really, what’s the difference?
And if anyone wants to see my truth of Burning Man, you can hit these links.
(Sorry, but I don’t trust the fascist YouTube/Google to host my videos.)

All sound is live track, live music if it’s there.
Is there a difference? Does it tell you more about Burning Man than a music video?
And one of my favorites, Cubitron L5 2009 – http://1drv.ms/1Eoepbc
And if you want to see a study in the effect of a music track on the same video, check out this folder of six examples: http://1drv.ms/1h4vMcu
My favorite is the Casablanca Mix – has the best narrative.
Beyond edited-in-the-camera, here is how to edit CV footage into a complete video: http://1drv.ms/1hzEm2S
Not Burning Man, but minute-for-minute, Night Market is a better experience. And I think you get a feel from this video. What would you learn about Night Market if I had laid a bunch of visuals over a music track?
